Representative of the Seychelles in China | Seychelles Financial Services Authority
Mr. William Gao is presently a diplomat stationed in the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Beijing, representing the Seychelles Financial Services Authority (FSA) in China as well as assisting in commercial affairs between the two nations. His role in China is to promote the financial products offered by Seychelles with an emphasis on the recent innovations such as the Fintech-sandbox as well as the positive implications on the entire basket of offshore products following the switch of Seychelles to a territorial taxation system, as well as progresses made regarding TIN numbers and bank accounts.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University (USA) with a degree in Economics, Mr.Gao worked in an analytical role at the investment division of insurance company and later, a hedge fund in Beijing, before returning to the Seychelles to join the FSA for training in preparation for his current position. His experiences in the Chinese finance sector regarding insurance, risk management, and capital markets, combined with his understanding of the Seychelles offshore sector has positioned him well for the tasks of forming connections, increasing awareness and clearing up inquiries with Chinese investors.
Furthermore, his commercial role at the Embassy of Seychelles has provided a platform for him to integrate the Seychelles financial services industry into greater global development strategies such as the Belt and Road initiative, bringing products of the FSA into greater depths in cooperation and farther corners in global out reach.
