Gonçalo Almeida graduated in Law from the International University of Lisbon and has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2000, as well as of the Brazilian Bar Association since 2010.
He began his professional trajectory in private practice with an office in Lisbon and in 2000/2001 attended the International Masters (MA) in Sociology, Management and International Sports Law, taught by CIES (International Centre for Sports Studies), Leicester (England), Milan (Italy) and Neuchatel (Switzerland), which would lead to a specialization in the field of Sports Law.
Under such precise context, he served for approximately 5 years as an internal lawyer at FIFA’s Players’ Status Department in Zurich, Switzerland, having acquired a vast international experience and returned to Portugal in 2009 in order to found the Law Firm “Almeida, Dias & Associates”, currently representing football clubs, players, coaches, agents/intermediaries and even football federations of different nationalities.
Another area that he also specialized in is Immigration Law, namely with regard to Portuguese residence visas, including by investment, such as the Portuguese Golden Visa program, as well as the acquisition of Portuguese nationality, making use of a solid legal experience acquired over the last 10 years, combined with the mastery of several languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish and French) and frequent participations as a speaker and a teacher in seminars and post-graduate courses around the world.
